The Father
And the Sounds of His World

The father role of Lawrence Archer in Parallel Chords (overture), is inspired by my father, classical concert pianist, Ray Dudley. He was a tremendouse influence on me, and we bonded through music early on. As time went on though, I became more interested in a combination of things, particularly life outside of classical music. It's all very tricky, because I also love what my father did, and I appreciate (and even teach) classical music. But I'm also interested in how multiple art forms work together. ~ C D-Rose

THE DAUGHTER AND THE SOUNDS OF HER WORLD

The character of Jaqueline yearns to explore sounds, music, and rhythm outside of the world of classical music. As a child, she bonds with her father, appreciating and understanding the depths and power of 'his' music. The short film picks up once Jaqueline is grown, and has spent thousands of hours alone practicing with her father. She finds herself drawn to boys, teenage rebellion, and the play "Uncle Vanya", which speaks to her deeply. She yearns to express herself through words rather than music, while she seeks out her own voice.
